More on Women and Exercise

Research has described the benefits of exercise equal to both genders, although Resnick, Vogel, & Luisi (2006) found 47% of White women and 61% of Black women over the age of 75 are not physically active.  Reasons given by a group of older women ranged from fearing the exercise would cause injury or pain to being lazy (Resnick, et al., 2006).  It seems important to find ways to inspire women in this age group to engage in more physical activity.  It might be interesting to try a few different programs for older women such as line dancing (which I have heard is popular in this age group), specially tailored with music familiar to this age group.
